The Body Shop Vitamin C Face Spritz

I came across this product a few months ago and fell in love with the idea of an instant pick me up spray. I've heard it was refreshing and gave energy while it gives the face a healthy complexion. I read some positive reviews on Amazon and on the Body Shop's website so i was overly excited to try it out.

When i first tried it,  i noticed it had a really nice smell. It smelled fresh and clean which is one thing i instantly loved about it. I've been using it once a day for about 2 months and i do not feel "energized" and i have not noticed any change in my skin's completion. I had high hopes that this would bring a healthier look to it but so far it hasn't done anything. It does have little sparkles in it which i guess gives off a healthy shine but i didn't feel as if i needed that. Maybe it is just me and maybe it works for other people but considering the price (15-20 dollars depending on where you get it) I would not consider buying it again. It was good for a light spray when it's hot out or when i was done at the gym but I feel as if splashing yourself with water or washing your face does the same thing.

Halloween Party Games

I'm planning on going to a friend's Halloween party so I've been helping her plan it. Here are some really cool ideas that are not to miss if you're planning one of your own.

Games/Activities

Have a Pinata

Movie Drinking Game

If you are of legal drinking age then this will be a fun game. Just pick a scary/Halloween themed movie and take a drink every time something a person dies or whatever you and your friends decide to drink on.

Pumpkin Carving

Candy Corn Relay

Grab a spoon. Place a candy corn on it. Hold the spoon with the candy corn in your mouth and race. The goal is to carry the spoon and candy corn in your mouth and drop it off into a bowl in which friends must compete and race to see who drops theirs in the bowl first.

Pin the Tail on the Donkey

I did this last year for a Halloween Party i hosted. I put some fake blood on the picture and drew on it a little to make it a zombie donkey. It was a lot of fun.

Hurricane Checklist

Living in the northeast we don't usually have to deal with hurricanes. We normally have things like snowstorms to worry about so this is something that is new to us. With Hurricane Sandy just about on us i thought i would write some about some helpful tips/advice to those who may be affected or just want to read to gain some insight on. I'm sure that this checklist can apply to other disasters as well.

1. Secure all outdoor furniture, pots, etc because given a high enough windgust it can easily become a projectile and hurt someone or damage your house.
2. Make sure you have all the needed food and water supplies for i would say 3 days or more
3. Have first aid/emergency kit ready
4. Have all the necessary paperwork and identification ready if needed to leave
5. Make sure phone is charged and backup phone battery (if available). I'm planning on leaving my phone on airplane for the most of the day but turning off airplane for 15 minutes a couple times a day so i can check for texts and such.
6. Keep paper and pen on you or have it in a bag you plan on using
7. Make an escape bag and have it ready. (Fill it with items you would want to have on you if you needed to leave the house in a hurry. It will save time.)
8. Keep some cash on you since it's possible that the banks and atm's could be closed or down.
9. Trim and take care of branches and such that could be in the way of power lines ahead of time
10. Fill the car up with gas because the gas stations may not have electricity which is required to pump the gas.
11. Have gas for the generator in order to give electricity off. If you don't have one then consider getting one (Some run from 600-6,000). It's a back up just in case you don't have power for days. Some areas have common outages for weeks so it really depends on your situation whether or not you want to invest in one.

Plants Vs. Zombies Halloween Treat

Thanks to the ADA (American Dental Association) partnering up with Popcap to have their "Stop Zombie Mouth" campaign children can have a different kind of spooky treat this Halloween. They're giving out free Plants Vs Zombies game downloads in the form of downloadable coupons. They're retrievable from Oct 30th-November 10th. It's a $19.95 value and a different alternative to candy for a Halloween treat.

You can either use the code to get it or print them out and hand them to trick or treaters or to any children in your life. It's a cute fun idea that is super cool!

Wisdom Teeth Survival kit

I've recently gotten my 4 wisdom teeth removed and ouch, it was quite a process. The surgery in itself didn't bother me due to being put under for it but the road to recovery was a fight. If you or if you have someone in your life who is going to be going to get theirs done, here is some helpful items that will hopefully help them along

1. Pain pills (of course unless directed by prescription) if not then some ibuprofen goes a long way!

2. Gauze Pads (usually just for the first day): I experienced a huge need for fresh gauze pads for the first couple hours after surgery. So unless the surgeon or nurse supplies some i would suggest buying a few.

3. Ice packs- It will help bring down swelling. Having all wisdom teeth pulled made it annoying to hold the packs on both sides at the same time. It wasn't fun but the ice packs helped.

4. Water bottles- Keeping hydrated is key. I didn't like cold water but water that was room temperature was perfect.

5. Pudding- I bought packs of pudding. My local grocery had a sale on packets of pudding so i stocked up and they sure came in handy! In fact, i stocked up on other soft foods like farina and jello. Don't make the mistake of eating oatmeal. I did that on the 3rd morning and it was annoying trying to get the small grains of oat out.

6. Wisp disposable toothbrushes- Due to not being able to open my mouth wide enough and being told to be very careful with brushing these came in handy. The bristles were soft and it had a thin long handle which made it easy to reach my back teeth. They were gentle enough to use and great because i felt gross not being able to brush my teeth (with the exception of salt water rinse).

7. Medicated Lip Balm- This was the biggest item that helped me. Due to the clamps that were used to keep my mouth open for that 2 hr procedure, my lips got really dry and cracked. It was really bad, in fact, it almost hurt more than the surgery. I had big cuts in the corners of my mouth and it stung when i opened my mouth or smiled. To help, a close friend of mine bought me a medicated lip balm which i applied various times throughout the day.

I wish all who have gotten it done or getting theirs taken out to have a safe and quick recovery!

For nail polish fans

Hey everyone, I love the idea of free or discounted/sale items so this is a cool opportunity.  It's a giveaway hosted by Cult Nails. I'm really new to entering giveaways so I think this is something really neat and something I hope I end up doing correctly haha.
To be honest i never tried Cult Nails. I'm getting into doing my nails more so I've been trying out new colors and brands, in fact i never heard of them until today. This is their website and they have some really cute colors that cost $10 each. If i don't end up winning I think I will end up trying one of their products in the future simply because i looked up the brand and they have a good reputation (plus they have lovely colors).
Here are some of my favorites:

Cult nails in Princess
Everything about this color makes it great in my opinion. It's simple, cute, and enchanting. This is by far my favorite color.

Cult nails in enticing
I love this one as well, it's a classic chic staple color that i think everyone should have

Cult Nails in Charming
This is romantic and unique. I haven't come across a color like this so far.

My Makeup Bag

Being a college student who works part time means that i don't have a lot of money and because i'm on a budget i save when i can. That being said, i tend to buy my makeup from department stores when i have coupons or when they're having a sale. Here are some of my personal favorites for my daily makeup routine.

EyeLiner: Prestige waterproof in EW. 10 star, Mascara (left): Maybelline The Mega Plush Volum' express Waterproof in brownish black, Mascara (right): Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Waterproof in classic black, Lip Balm: Maybelline Baby Lips in 30 Peach Kiss,  Bronzer: Bronze Booster in Light to medium shade, Face Powder: Physicians Formula Mineral Wear in buff Biege, Foundation: L'oreal Paris Visible lift in 145 Classic Ivory, Lip Gloss: Maybelline Shinesensational in 20 Treat Me Sweet

I go for a more natural/relaxed look with my makeup. I don't like caking makeup on or wearing too much because i think it doesn't look good on me.

The two mascaras are used depending on my mood or occasion. I use the Mega Plush for more common activities like hanging out or school. It isn't dark or dramatic like the Colossal. The colossal gives my lashes a lot of definition and i love the way it makes them look.

The face makeup is something that again depends on my activities for the day. I tend to use the foundation the most which by the way is my favorite foundation. This foundation is amazing, its silky smooth and blends perfectly with my skin. I know it's anti aging and that i'm 20 but i don't think that really matters. I use the little tan brush on the right to apply my foundation, it's brand is essence of beauty and it works great. Every now and then i use the powder and bronze. I use it with the black makeup brush (don't know the brand).

A helpful bronzer hint my friend taught me to define the cheek bones: Use the brush to place the bronzer on them and brush upwards. It not only defines them but makes the face look somewhat thinner.

These lip products are really nice. The baby lips is a new addition but it works pretty well. I'm not crazy about the peach smell but it makes my lips feel smoother. The lip gloss is amazing. It has a beautiful light pink color when it's on and it's very shiny. There are some sparkles which i know bothers some people but it doesn't bother me. One thing i love about this lip gloss is that it doesn't feel sticky like some tend to.

I have other products but i rarely use them. I'm starting to use less and less makeup products then i used to when i was younger. When i was 17-19 i would wear a lot of eyeshadow but now i just use eye liner, usually in white or brown. I have brown eyes so i think those colors look nice on.

Here are some links for discounts on makeup. I'm not associated with these sites or anything. I searched and found them, i tend to do that when bargain shopping. (Some of the codes might not work and some expire soon) So take advantage of the sales. Happy Shopping (:

Sinful Colors "Let me Go" Review

This is my first review on here. I was very inspired by seeing so many reviews people make on blogger that i wanted to try it out. It was pretty fun and it made me appreciate how good some people are at photography. It's challenging to find the right angles and lighting.

I recently bought this shade at my local rite aid. It was a cute color that wasn't a bad price so i thought it would try it.

At first glance and in person, one can easily see how unique this color is. It drew me in as soon as i glanced down the aisle that had nail polish. I'm not a big nail polish person but I've slowly been getting into painting my nails more often.

As this picture shows, it is more of a pink pearl pigment when it's on. It was hard getting the lighting just right in order to show it though.

This color is lovely. I certainly was expecting a darker color and was surprised how light it was when i started putting it on. I think it was lighter than the color in the bottle because the polish seemed "watery". I put on another coat when it dried (side note: this polish seemed to have a longer drying time). The second coat helped make this color a little bit darker. When the top coat dried I put on a clear top coat to protect this color and make it last longer.

Overall, this color is really nice and for the price it is worth it.

5k tips!

One thing that is a really neat experience and something i think everyone should try (at least once) is to run a 5k (3.1 miles). Everyone is different but i can offer some tips to help.

1. Workout daily. This goes without saying. I would say if you're a beginner to start your training 9-12 weeks before race day. This will give a good pocket of time to train and get comfortable. Try to alternate your running days. Like don't run every single day, take a day or two off to rest or do another kind of physical activity (Biking, swimming, walking, etc.).

2. PR. Don't worry about beating other people. It doesn't matter who comes in first, the thing that matters is that you do your best and get your time. PR (personal record) is the best time you've got when it comes to running 3.1 miles, use it as motivation!

3. Pace Yourself. A common mistake is to dart right out of the gate, most people end up losing a lot of energy from that. To give yourself a slight advantage, save that energy burst for the last quarter mile. Chances are you will be flying by people who gave their burst earlier on.

4. Light Week. Make sure to keep the week of the race a light workout week. Nobody wants tired/sore legs before they even start the race.

5. Morning Meal. Don't be afraid to eat on race day however don't eat too much. I would say to eat a few hours before the race starts. Make sure to keep the meal simple. Something like a granola bar/banana and a peanut butter and jelly. (That is what i normally would eat)

6. Warm up. Around 20-30 minutes before the race do a light jog for a warm up. This is good for getting your muscles ready. Stretch when you're done your warm up so there are no tight muscles.

7. Keep positive. You worked for this and you can do it! :)

Good luck to all!

P.S. Anyone else think the The color run sounds awesome? I haven't done it yet but i plan to!
